Our Story
The Story Behind Evan’s Oro Negro Café
I didn’t grow up drinking specialty coffee. I grew up drinking whatever coffee my dad could afford. We didn’t have much money, and like many families, we struggled. But every morning, there was always a cup of coffee. Looking back, it wasn’t about the quality of the coffee, it was about the moments, the conversations, and the hope that tomorrow would be a little better.
When I came to the United States, I did what millions of people do. I went to work. Long hours. Hard jobs. And I still do to this day. If you ask the people who know me, they’ll probably tell you the same thing: all Javier does is work.
Building Evan’s Oro Negro Café isn’t my full-time job, it’s what I work on after my full-time job. Every bag we sell represents late nights, weekends, sacrifices, and a dream that refuses to quit. Nothing in my life has ever been handed to me.
Then one day, an opportunity came along to build a coffee brand.
We took a chance.
Our History
Most people don’t realize how difficult it is to build a business from nothing. We started with dropshipping, and I can honestly say it’s one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. The amount of work behind the scenes, the money invested, the sleepless nights, the constant learning, and the criticism are things you don’t truly understand until you’ve lived them. Some people cheer you on. Others criticize every move you make.
That’s okay.
I’ve learned that if you’re trying to build something meaningful, criticism comes with the territory. You just have to stay focused, keep your head down, and keep moving forward. Today, we’re taking another big step by transitioning to private-label products. Soon, we’ll be launching our own seasonings and BBQ sauces alongside our coffee. It’s exciting, but it’s also scary. There are no guarantees.
Maybe years from now we’ll look back and realize this was the beginning of something incredible Or maybe we’ll have to close our doors tomorrow.
Only time will tell.
But one thing I know for sure is this:
I will never forget where I came from.
I know what it’s like to work your entire life for every dollar you earn. I know what it’s like to struggle. That’s why I refuse to sell something I wouldn’t proudly serve to my own family.
If you ever buy one of our coffee, tea or merch products and you’re not completely satisfied, we’ll make it right. No excuses. No runaround. You work too hard for your money, and I would never expect you to pay for something you’re not happy with.
We’re not just trying to build a coffee company.
We’re trying to build a brand people can trust.
To everyone who has supported Evan’s Oro Negro Café, whether you’ve purchased a bag of coffee, shared one of our posts, or simply believed in what we’re trying to build—Thank you. You’re part of our story.
As long as God gives me the strength to keep working, I’ll keep chasing this dream.
One customer.
One product.
One day at a time.

Our Coffee
We don't roast to hit a number on a chart. We roast until a coffee tastes like the best version of itself.
That means slowing down on the beans that need it, and getting out of the way on the ones that don't. Every batch gets tasted before it goes anywhere near a bag, if it's not right, it doesn't ship. Simple as that.
We're not trying to make every cup identical. We're trying to make every cup honest, to what the bean actually is, where it came from, and how it was grown. Some days it's bright and fruity. Some days it's deep and heavy like dark chocolate. Either way, it should taste like someone actually paid attention while making it, because someone did.
